Linking Tate Modern to The City and St Paul’s, the Millennium Bridge is London’s only pedestrian bridge and the first new bridge over the Thames for over 100 years. The steel suspension bridge was opened in 2000 as the “Blade of Light” across the Thames but was re-branded as the Wobbly Bridge due its instability – it was then closed for 2 years as new dampers were added to make it stiffer. The Millennium Bridge is a great subject to photograph at all times of day- with its own architectural qualities, the constant flow of people across it and its views of London up and down the Thames with its many iconic buildings. Photography Tips: try different angles, times of day and close ups of the structure.
Best Time to Go
Anytime is good – but the bridge can get very busy so go early or late if you want to avoid the worst of the crowds in your frame. If you have a tripod then sunset and night time will give you plenty of opportunities from the South-side with the City in the background
How to Get There
St Pauls Tube station is on the Central line – just head to South-side of the Cathedral – and head towards the main Tate Modern chimney.
Blackfriars Tube station is on the District and Circle line as well as the Main line.

Places to Eat
Paternoster Square (which is on St Pauls north side) has a range of restaurants as does One New Change (East of St Pauls).
On the South-side the Tate Moden has several cafes and Borough Market is not too far away.
