Somerset House is a neo-classical building in the heart of London, overlooking the Thames embankment and between the Strand and the River Thames.

It is had many uses in its 500 years from Royal residence to Tax office. It is currently an arts and cultural centre.

Somerset house run free guided tours (see link below for dates and times) however many parts of the building are open to the public for viewing. One of the most impressive aspect of Somerset House is its collection of staircases – from the ultra modern Miles Stairs to the older Nelson staircase.
