Designed by Sir Christopher Wren (St Paul’s Cathedral), the Monument commemorates the great Fire of London in 1666. The fire, which as we all know started in a bakery in Pudding Lane, is 61 metres (202 feet) from the tower – its exact height. In addition to the great views of London from the top, it also features a fantastic spiral staircase – 311 steps all the way up.
