“My London” is a new series of posts where we ask Londoners to share some of their favourite photos of the city.

Trafalgar Square

Even though my ‘proper’ camera (An Olympus Pen E-PL3) is small enough to carry around I rarely think to bring it with me. But now, thankfully, most phones can take a decent picture. This was taken with a Nokia Lumia 800 a couple of years ago. I took two or three of the magical flying Yoda before this perfect moment struck; it says something, I’m just not sure what. Wandering around London it is always good to keep an eye open for the unexpected. I wouldn’t normally choose to photograph a street performer but, if you are in the right place at the right time, you just might capture a moment like this… even if none of us knows what it means.

Centre Point – Cranes and Building

This combines three of my favourite things; cranes, buildings, and clouds. I didn’t have my camera with me but my phone did a decent enough job. This is Centrepoint, with the cranes building the new Tottenham Court Road Tube Station, and some fairly boring clouds. But I like the shapes. I once took a photo of a dead mouse in London, and I mention this just to highlight one of my favourite photography dictums; look up, look down, and mind the traffic.
